After months of speculation, OnePlus has announced the new mid-range OnePlus Nord N10 5G and the budget Nord N100. The US was excluded from the launch of the original Nord, but not this time. Both models will be launched in the UK first and will arrive in the US shortly thereafter.

While the Nord N10 5G is designed to compete with the Pixel 4a and iPhone SE, the N100 has a much lower price point. This is OnePlus' challenge to the Moto G series, so don't expect flagship-level high-end specs this time around.

Of course, it's not all bad news, as there is also a price to match the reduced specs. That's all we know about the OnePlus Nord N100.

So far, OnePlus has only revealed information about the N100's UK release, promising that it will appear on November 10 for the low price of 179 pounds (about $233 at conversion rates). The phone will be available in the U.S. in the near future.

Hopefully, the OnePlus Nord N100 will arrive before the holidays and will be slightly cheaper than the conversion price suggests, since the UK price includes tax.

A phone this cheap will not have the flagship class specs, or even the mid-range specs found on the OnePlus Nord and Nord N10 5G.

Internally, the OnePlus Nord N100 has a Snapdragon 460 processor and 4GB of RAM. This is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 865 in the OnePlus 8T, but the N100 is one-third the price of that newly launched phone. Naturally, it is not for those who want the best.

It also comes with 64GB of storage, which, like the Nord N10, can be expanded with a microSD card slot.

What OnePlus has not changed is the design; the N100 is similar to the 8T, with a 6.52-inch display and a triple-lens camera system.

Screen resolution has not yet been announced, and there is no official word on refresh rate. However, given that OnePlus claimed a 90 Hz refresh rate with the N10 5G, it is safe to assume that the N100 will offer a 60 Hz refresh rate, which is standard for cell phones. As for resolution, it is estimated to be around HD/720p.

The camera array includes a 13MP main lens, plus bokeh and macro lenses for a "more dynamic shooting experience." There is also a single hole punch camera on the front of the phone, although its resolution is yet to be determined.

Finally, OnePlus appears to have ditched the in-display fingerprint scanner in favor of a physical fingerprint scanner on the back of the OnePlus N100.

The N100 will be available in one color, named Midnight Frost. Translated into English, it is dark gray.

The OnePlus N100 comes with a rather impressive 5,000 mAh battery, larger than any of OnePlus' flagship models; combined with 18W fast charging, it can provide a fairly substantial feature set for such a cheap device. can be used for a wide range of applications.

The Snapdragon 460 does not have a 5G modem like the Snapdragon 690 in the N10 5G. And OnePlus has said nothing to make us suspect that there might be a workaround. As such, we expect the Nord N100 to have LTE connectivity.

The OnePlus 8T comes with Oxygen OS 11, which is based on Android 11, while the Nord N100 comes with Oxygen OS 10.5, which uses an older version of Android. The reason for this is not clear, but Oxygen 10.5 is a fully robust operating system and has the same features as the other devices.

This includes Zen mode, Dark mode, and customization options that allow you to tweak almost any design of the phone.

There are many things missing from the OnePlus N100 announcement, and there are still things we don't know about this budget smartphone. What we have heard about the OnePlus N100 is fairly typical for a phone of this price.

However, there is still a lot to like about the OnePlus N100. Whether it's the huge battery, the nicely optimized Oxygen OS, or the fact that OnePlus has finally conceded and included expandable storage, it is an ideal entry point into the OnePlus ecosystem for those who cannot afford $750 for a premium device.
