Ever since Apple unveiled the Apple Silicon-powered Mac at WWDC 2020, we have been eagerly awaiting the new MacBook Pro 2020 While recent rumors have favored a November Apple event, new information leaked directly from Apple itself has led us to believe that a new 16 MacBook Pro is imminent and that it may be the Apple Silicon MacBook Pro
This could be a mistake, but Apple's leak comes in the form of new release notes for Boot Camp software, which "fixes stability issues that may occur under high CPU loads on the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019 and 2020) " And as you know, the 2020 16-inch MacBook Pro does not yet exist
These notes were shared by Twitter user @atharvakale343 and point to Boot Camp 6113, which fixes the same issue for the 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro This may be a typo by the Apple Update Notes team, but adding "and 2020" to that line seems like an unforced error, to borrow a sports metaphor
While a super-fast 16-inch Apple Silicon MacBook Pro could arrive this fall, it seems equally likely that Apple will update its high-end MacBook Pro with an Intel processor one last time 2019 When the 16-inch MacBook Pro was unveiled in , Apple added a 9th generation Intel Core processor, so there is room to add a 10th generation processor (Or an 11th generation Tiger Lake if the chips are ready)
The possibility of an Intel 16-inch MacBook Pro makes more sense for Apple to start the Apple Silicon MacBook with a more modest 12-inch or 13-inch MacBook Because Apple touts low power consumption as a major advantage of Apple Silicon-based laptops, a MacBook with a less-intensive processor would have better battery life
