Samsung Galaxy S21 can Beat iPhone12 5 Ways

Leaked information on the Samsung Galaxy S21 is flying around faster than expected because Samsung's next flagship is rumored to launch earlier than usual. In fact, the S21 series could debut as early as January.

So what can we expect from the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra? According to our iPhone 12 benchmark, the A14 Bionic is insanely fast, so we don't expect Samsung to win on performance. But based on existing advantages and new developments, Samsung could overtake the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro and become the best smartphone. here's how the S21 lineup could accomplish that.

Samsung made a big mistake at the launch of the Galaxy S20 by making the cheapest model $1,000. And the pandemic didn't help matters. So Samsung responded to the market trend by launching the $699 Galaxy S20 FE. This included a large OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a powerful triple camera setup, and solid performance.

I expect the Galaxy S20 series to compete with the $699 iPhone 12 mini, even if it means sacrificing some features to achieve that price, and a more affordable model from the start.

According to one rumor, the Galaxy S21 Ultra may boast a 6.8-inch display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. This would be a significant jump from the S20 Ultra's 120Hz panel and much higher than the 60Hz screens on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. Apple was rumored to be developing a 120Hz ProMotion display for the iPhone 12 Pro series, but it was reportedly canceled due to battery life concerns.

The advantages of 144Hz are ultra-fast scrolling and smooth animations, but there are plenty of Android games optimized for 120Hz panels. Samsung could really stick it to Apple if it succeeds in getting Fortnite running at 144Hz exclusively on the S21 Ultra - especially since Apple has banned Fortnite from the App Store due to in-app purchase feuds.

The Galaxy S21 should last longer than the iPhone 12; the Galaxy S20 has a 4,000 mAh battery, while the iPhone 12 has just 2,815 mAh. Based on the iPhone 12 battery tests, there is also a significant difference in the durability of the two models.

The iPhone 12 lasted only 8 hours and 25 minutes at 5G, while the Galaxy S20 lasted 9 hours and 31 minutes. However, the S20 dropped to 8:04 when the screen was set to 120 Hz. The Galaxy S21 Plus is rumored to offer a slightly larger battery than its predecessor (4,600mAh vs. 4,500mAh), while the Galaxy S21 Ultra will retain its massive 5,000mAh battery.

One of the most disappointing things about the iPhone 12 Pro is that the optical zoom is 2x on the iPhone 12 Pro Max versus up to 2.5x on the iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini have no telephoto zoom at all, Samsung has a chance to extend its lead.

The current Galaxy S20 Ultra has a 4x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and 100x digital space zoom. The S20 and S20 Plus also offer 3x optical and up to 30x space zoom. However, at least one Galaxy S21 model is rumored to feature two optical zoom lenses, one with 3x and the other with a 10x periscope lens.

This is just one report, but it is possible that Samsung will follow the iPhone 12 by not bundling a charger or earphones. But even if not, Samsung should have an advantage in charging speed. The Galaxy S21 will reportedly offer 25W charging compared to the iPhone 12 series' 20W; there were rumors that the S21 might support 65W ultra-fast charging, but these were denied.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra offered 45W charger support as an option, while the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 were only 25W. Therefore, it is necessary to wait and see.
