There is an annoying new issue with Google Pixel5

The Google Pixel 5 hasn't been out in the world very long, but it already seems to be suffering from some major issues. As if the gap between the phone's display and the case wasn't bad enough, some Pixel 5 owners are reporting an entirely different set of problems.

It's particularly affecting Pixel 5 owners who try to use it with Google's Pixel Stand, with the phone refusing to go to bed like some sort of stubborn six-year-old.

For those who don't remember, the Pixel Stand was a wireless charging dock that launched with the Pixel 3. But that was only a small part of its functionality; the Pixel Stand also turned into a mini Nest Hub when docked with a compatible Pixel device, displaying all important information and providing quick access to Google Assistant.

An issue affecting the Pixel 5 is that the phone does not want to go to sleep, and the screen returns to maximum brightness in the middle of the night. This is true even when the phone is set to turn off the screen when it gets dark. To make matters worse, the troubleshooting steps suggested by Google support do not seem to be very effective.

Some users on the Pixel forums claim that this problem affects both the Pixel 4 and 4XL. Nevertheless, some users claim that the Pixel 3 and 4 phones are perfectly fine, even though they forget that the Pixel 5 is nighttime. This only adds more confusion to the whole mystery.

If your Pixel 5 is affected by this strange technological insomnia, Google's advice is to reset your app preferences and toggle Do Not Disturb mode. If the problem persists, you may have no choice but to stop using the Pixel stand until Google figures it all out and issues a fix.
