OnePlus is adding a new flavor to its existing phones through partnerships with other brands. In the past, the company has partnered with British sports car manufacturer McLaren. However, this incorporation of cyberpunk 2077 into the OnePlus 8T seems out of the ordinary at first glance.

The Chinese smartphone maker had teased the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition last week, and now it has revealed the custom phone in all its impressive glory. This special edition simply looks like a botched iPhone 12 in a different color.

It doesn't seem to particularly echo the dystopian future conveyed by the world of Cyberpunk 2077. But with its neon highlights and angular glass accents, it does have some of the aesthetic DNA we have come to expect from CD Project Red's Cyberpunk 2077 game.

From the front, this custom 8T looks a lot like the vanilla version with a flat 6.55" 1080 x 2400 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. However, the Cyberpunk 2077 edition has several software elements associated with the upcoming game, including a neon light bar running down the side. A fingerprint scanner below the display displays the same animation as the prosthetic scanner in the game.

On the back, the cyberpunk-style additions are deeper. The rear camera module has been extended to occupy the entire top of the 8T. It includes a 48MP f/1.7 main snapper camera with optical image stabilization, a 16MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP monochrome camera. The rest of the module has cyberpunk "2077" lettering.

The center of the phone is finished in a mottled gray, with another glass panel cut in an angular fashion occupying the lower segment, followed by the word "Cyberpunk" in neon yellow.

One of the most interesting features, however, is that the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition comes with a case that appears to have luminous highlights that change color depending on the ambient lighting in which the phone is used. And inside the box is a selection of badges that appear to be related to the various factions in the game.

Unfortunately, not only do we have to wait for Cyberpunk 2077 to be released on December 10, but the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition is also unavailable as it is only available in China at this time. If the Cyberpunk 2077 becomes very popular, which is possible, we should not hold our breath.

If you live in China, it will be available on November 11 and will cost RMB 3,999 (about $600). For this price, you get 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space.

But the regular OnePlus 8T, with its powerful Snapdragon 865 and impressive design, is well worth considering if you can stomach the less-than-ideal camera performance.
