It has long been known that the PS5 will have a smaller SSD than the Xbox Series X, offering 825 GB instead of 1 TB. However, it has not been clear how much of that capacity will be available.

We have already heard several rumors that the PS5 will have only 665 GB of usable storage, with the rest reserved for the operating system. New evidence suggests that there is a little more capacity, but you still won't like what we've got.

According to a new image screenshot from a now-deleted YouTube video by Twitter user @Okami13_, the PS5 has slightly more than 667GB of usable storage.

This is better than 665GB, but not by much. Especially when compared to the Xbox Series X's 802GB.

The only question is why this discrepancy? As we noted at the time, the screenshot showing 665GB (from Sony itself) was speculated to be a development kit and not a retail model. This new screenshot is from a review unit that will be available next week.

Of course, there is still skepticism: as TechRadar points out, the screenshot calls the storage a "HDD" rather than the more accurate "SSD." While some may casually refer to solid-state drives as "hard drives," there is no reason for Sony to use the wrong abbreviation. While we do not entirely reject this image, its validity is questionable.

The good news is that we don't have to wait that long for a proper answer. The console itself will be released on November 12, and the first wave of reviews should be seen much sooner.

Unfortunately, things don't look much better, as the Xbox Series S is having storage issues. Hopefully Sony can give us a little more detail on how it works instead of making us guess and assume.
