OnePlus Watch Doesn't have a Key Smartwatch Feature — What You Need to Know

OnePlus smartwatches have not had a particularly smooth road. The once-aborted project was recently revived, and OnePlus gave a preview of what was to come, but then faced significant delays.

But delays can't stop the wheels of the hype train from moving, and leakers have more information to share about what we can expect when the OnePlus watch arrives - which could be any day.

Leaker Max Jambor, who has already revealed much about the OnePlus Watch, claims that the device will not feature Google's Wear OS. This is shocking, as previous information has said that it will have Wear OS.

Jambor has been known to leak reliable OnePlus information in the past, including details that OnePlus is working on a round design smartwatch. He is also the person who broke the news that the watch has been delayed, speculating that this is due to "production or software development complications."

Not running the watch on Google's Wear OS would be a big move for OnePlus. After all, if OnePlus is going to use a third-party OS for its next wearable, Wear OS would be the least painful option since it would not have to negotiate usage rights or licensing.

It could also be beneficial for BBK Electronics, the parent company of OnePlus and owner of Oppo, Vivo, and RealMe, to use an entirely new OS. Many of its sister companies already have smartwatches, but all have rectangular watchfaces and run the Wear OS; OnePlus could lead a new wave of round smartwatches that share a common BBK-made OS.

However, this is only speculation, and we won't know for sure until some sort of announcement is made. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we will see this watch anytime soon. Rest assured that we will keep you posted if we receive any information.
