Ultimately, the PS5 will be a must-buy for PS4 users. Sooner or later, publishers will stop releasing titles on both platforms, as they did with Spider-Man: Miles Morales. But thanks to a new quote from the head of PlayStation, we are beginning to wonder when on earth PS5 games will stop being released on PS4.

In an interview with The Telegraph (paid, Eurogamer reported), PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, about God of War: Ragnarok, the sequel to the highly successful and acclaimed God of War (2018), He did not commit to a PS5 exclusive.

Specifically, when pursued on the topic of a Ragnarok exclusive, Ryan declared, "I have nothing to say about that today."

One might worry that if Ragnarok is released on both the previous generation PS4 and the current generation PS5, the experience would be watered down by supporting both. Ryan disagrees and says, "Our PS5 experience and versions of these games are built from the ground up to take advantage of the PS5 feature set. So we offer the PS5 version of the games to the PS5 community and the PS4 version of the games to the PS4 community. ...... I don't see what's wrong with that.

Our review of "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" supports Ryan's assertion that the game doesn't seem to punch, kick or webshot on PS5.

As for the announced PS5 games, the aforementioned "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" as well as "Bugsnax," "Sackboy: A Big Adventure," "Horizon: Forbidden West," and other major titles will be on both platforms. PS5 exclusives include the "Demon's Souls" remake, "Astro's Playroom" and "Ratchet & Clank": Rift Apart.

Why this is happening is probably due to sales and compatibility. Exclusive titles may help PS5 sales (although they don't need to right now, as the console is a very hot ticket item). Games released on multiple platforms are probably more widely available to boost sales for players who can't (or don't want to) spend more than $399 or (like me) simply can't find a PS5 in stock.
