Forget Apple TV: Nvidia Shield TV crashed into Black129 for Black Friday

At least the Black Friday sales season is here and the Cyber Monday sales season is just around the corner. Among them, the Nvidia Shield TV (2019) is one of the best streaming players you can buy.

Amazon is offering the Nvidia Shield TV for $129 for a limited time. That's $20 off and one of the lowest prices for this excellent streaming tube.

In our review of the Nvidia Shield TV, we liked its ability to quickly render 4K content and stream games. In addition, it has strong app support and access to nearly all channels and services, including Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube.

It has a rather odd design, as it is shaped like a tube rather than a traditional box like its predecessor and other streaming devices. But don't let that put you off.

Designed to be placed horizontally under a TV, it has a power port and Ethernet on one end and a microSD card slot and HDMI port on the other. In an age when game consoles and other gadgets stand vertically, this is a bit unorthodox.

Naturally, being an Android TV device, you have the option to customize the home screen and place the content you want front and center. Unwanted content, on the other hand, is kicked out no matter what depth the removed apps go. This also means that you can load a variety of Android games alongside the free GeForce Now game streaming service.

And it is with games that the Nvidia Shield TV has an advantage over other TV streaming boxes like the Apple TV. Not only can it play the aforementioned games, but it can also stream Steam games directly from a PC on the network, making the Nvidia Shield TV a fairly game-centric device despite its small size.

So this is a rare bargain for the Nvidia Shield TV.
