The playlist for the event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm ET, so you'd better get going

There is, of course, a small requirement: you must have Fortnite 1460 updated, and Epic Games recommends that you be logged into the game at least one hour before the official start time of 4pm ET, which is at least 3pm
