This Windows10 update makes you want to use Cortana

Windows 10 often gets a bad rap when it comes to updates However, the latest update looks really useful, especially for those who have lost track of their digital documents

The latest Windows 10 Insider Preview build adds a new feature that lets you ask Cortana to search for files and documents instead of typing a search query You must be a US user to try it out, and it only works in English at this time, but even considering the current limitations, it looks very useful

The new "File Skills" feature was revealed in a blog post about the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview build

As of Insider Preview Build 20270, users with outlookcom or hotmailcom accounts can use File Skill to search for saved local files If a corporate account stores files in OneDrive or SharePoint, Cortana can search in them as well

Conveniently, Cortana does not require specific instructions to find the desired file Simply ask for a recent document, a specific file type, a filename fragment, or a file sent by a specific contact, and it will return the results you need

Cortana is not widely considered a welcome addition to Windows 10 In fact, we have a whole guide on how to uninstall Cortana But if you're one of the minority whose workflow has been enhanced by the Halo-inspired digital assistant, you'll feel vindicated when the feature finally makes it to the stable release of Windows 10
