One of the major factors that will determine whether the Xbox Series X or the PS5 will win the latest round of the console wars, besides which system can remain in stock for a few minutes, will be which offers the most compelling exclusive software. So far, Sony has won a lot when it comes to games playable on PS5, but the latest Xbox is fighting back with its own big get.

According to an announcement at The Game Awards 2020, "Ark II" will be an Xbox Series X exclusive. That means PS5 will miss out on the futuristic, dino-filled adventure starring Vin Diesel, at least for the time being.

Studio Wildcard's "Ark II" is a sequel to the survival sandbox game "Ark: Survival Evolved." Not much is currently known about its content, but from what we have seen so far, it looks to be a stunningly gorgeous game.

Diesel appeared in "Ark II" and provided his own portrait, as well as serving as executive producer. A companion to the game will be an animated series featuring the voices of David Tennant, Gerard Butler, Elliot Page, Russell Crowe, and many other well-known actors.

All because Diesel is a big fan of Ark, as reported by "Wild Card" CEO Doug Kennedy, according to Eurogamer, "Wild Speed" Diesel has "thousands of hours" into "Ark: Studio Evolved" . Kennedy told Eurogamer, "He has a deep understanding of the game and provides direct feedback into the development process."

Ark II is not scheduled to be released until 2022, but when it does, it will have the distinction of being a pure Xbox exclusive, at least for a while. There is no information on how long that will last; Ark: Survival Evolved had a larger presence across the platforms on which it debuted, and made a name for itself when it burst onto the scene.

With Ark II available to only a small portion of the gaming population and the backing of big-name celebrities, the game may be the weapon the Xbox Series X needs to win the immediate exclusivity war, or at least fight back against the early lead of the PS5.
