Cyberpunk 2077 can be played on Nintendo Switch, but there is a catch

Although it runs poorly on older consoles, Cyberpunk 2077 is technically still playable on the original PS4 and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch, by no means the most powerful console, was left behind. But what if I told you that there is a way to play CD Projekt Red's hot new title on a portable console?

Technically possible, but it would require hacking the system to run Google Stadia, a cloud gaming service that lets you play games without an expensive console or PC setup.

The fact that Cyberpunk did so poorly on consoles turned into a marketing opportunity with Stadia because of "cloud gaming". After all, as long as Google has a huge server farm to do all the processing work, they don't have to worry about the type of hardware as long as they have access to Stadia.

That's why YouTuber Nintendrew decided to run Stadia and Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch. He first had to hack the system and install Android. This is because Stadia is not actually available on the Switch.

As mentioned in the video, only when Nintendrew can get Cyberpunk 2077 to play consistently and hopefully look better than the PS4 and Xbox One versions and run on both Joy Con and Switch Pro controllers will he consider his work will be considered a success.

It also needs to be affordable, and Nintendrew found that streaming the game from his PC did not work on his first attempt. He therefore decided to install Android to access Stadia.

Nintendrew notes that if you have never installed Android before, the hard part is actually installing Android. Once you install Android, it is easy to install any app you want from Google Play.

It is worth mentioning that hacking the Switch may not be a good idea if you don't know what you are doing. There is always the possibility of breaking the console, and if Nintendo detects hacking the Switch, you will be banned from using Nintendo's online services.

However, the process was successful, and Nintendrew noted how well the games performed on the Switch in both portable and docked modes. Because everything is in the cloud, the Switch really doesn't have to do anything; Stadia's design means you can access Google's library of next-generation titles without having to buy a next-generation console.

So if you must play cyberpunk on the go and don't want to use Stadia's mobile app to play on your phone, try this. Just be careful.
