Boxy Pixel, the company behind the all-metal Game Boy, has announced its latest product, an all-aluminum Joy-Con for the Nintendo Switch.

As with Boxy Pixel's other products, the company offers a metal enclosure for its gaming technology, but it is up to the user to assemble it, giving the Switch Joy-Con a DIY element.

Aside from the fact that the Joy-Con is made of aluminum, it is slightly reminiscent of past Nintendo hardware. The Joy-Con on the right side has four lines carved out toward the bottom, reminiscent of the speaker grille of the original Game Boy.

The left Joy-Con also features a D-pad design, rather than Nintendo's default four-button layout. Also, the back of the Joy-Con has a recessed line running across it, reminiscent of the DMG Game Boy aesthetic.

The aluminum Joy-Con shell is not cheap. The shell alone is $99. The metal buttons are another $22, and that's before tax and shipping. Apparently, this is the boutique price of high-end gaming hardware. YouTube channel Macho Nacho Productions has a great video that gives an in-depth tour of the Joy-Con. Worth checking out.
