OnePlus Band Fitness Tracker has arrived - but there is a catch

After numerous leaks and years of speculation, OnePlus' first wearable has finally arrived: the OnePlus Band is a fitness tracker, not a smartwatch, but it's the real deal and will launch in India first. [The OnePlus Band will also be available in other countries, but it is not clear when that will be. But when it arrives, it certainly isn't going to break the bank.

The OnePlus Band has been leaked several times over the past few weeks, giving us a glimpse of a simple design almost identical to the Oppo Band. Namely, it has a 1.1-inch AMOLED display with full touch controls, set on an interchangeable strap.

In terms of features, it's quite a bargain: the OnePlus Band includes a standard heart rate monitor, tri-axis accelerometer, and gyroscope, all of which are used to measure how much activity you're actually doing.

It also has an SpO2 blood oxygen sensor, IP68 water resistance, and 13 fitness modes. It also includes a number of smart features, such as connection to the OnePlus Health app, notification support, camera and music control, cell phone search, weather forecast, and Zen mode support on select OnePlus phones.

Being a wristwatch device, it also includes typical watch-like features such as customizable watch faces, alarms, timers, and a stopwatch. The battery is promised to last two weeks, but to charge it, the Band must be removed from its strap and clipped to a separate charger.

The OnePlus Band is set to cost Rs. 2,499 ($34/£25) when it goes on sale in India on January 13. It will come with one black-colored band, while other first-party designs will sell for Rs. 399 ($6/£4). It is not clear how much these prices will change after the international launch, so we will have to wait and see what happens.

We will report on that as more information becomes available. We will also see if the OnePlus Band has a chance of making our Best Fitness Trackers list when it launches in the US and Europe.
