RoborockS7 Robot Vacuum mop and clean at once

At CES 2021, Roborock unveiled its latest Roborock S7, a combination robotic vacuum cleaner and mop. This is a potential breakthrough that streamlines the cleaning process and eliminates the need for multiple sweeps and multiple devices.

The Roborock S7 will be available on Amazon starting March 24 for $649 in black and white.

Equipped with a sonic mopping system, the Roborock S7 offers multiple scrubbing settings ranging from 1,650 to 3,000 times per minute. The high-speed reciprocating vibrations quickly break up and scrub away stuck-on dirt. I have been underwhelmed by robots that combine vacuuming and mopping in the past, usually because of their poor mopping capabilities and cumbersome setup.

Most robot vacuum/mop combinations cannot do both at once. Usually, the vacuum cleaner does the cleaning and then it is the mop's turn. In between these two actions, there is the challenge in the race car pit of swapping the trash can for a water tank and attaching the mop pad to the underside of the robot.

Roborock S7 can eliminate pit stops thanks to a technology the company calls VibraRise. The mop also automatically rises when the robot returns to the dock, preventing dirty mop pads from dragging on the floor. In our review of the Roborock S6, we were particularly excited to test the automatic mopping up, as one of our complaints was the inaccuracy of the no-mopping zones set by the app.

Used with the Roborock S7, the Roborock app supports mapping up to four floors, customized room cleaning, room-by-room cleaning, no-go and no-mop zones, and real-time mapping. The S7 can also command Alexa, Google Home, and Siri.

Roborock S7 cleans debris with 2500 Pa of suction power and a new floating rubber brush roll that adheres to the floor for better cleaning. The battery provides up to 3 hours of cleaning.

The company states that the S7 is compatible with the RoboLock Auto Empty Dock, which will be available later this year.
