Cyberpunk 2077 Developers Apologize - PS5 and Xbox Series X updates are not coming anytime soon

Cyberpunk 2077 is a buggy mess for some and completely unplayable for others. Developer CD Projekt Red has already promised a fix and an upgrade to next-gen consoles, but it's now clear when that will be.

Marcin Iwiński, co-founder of CD Projekt Red, has released a video apologizing for the poor performance on PS4 and Xbox One consoles and outlining what fans can expect from Cyberpunk 2077 during 2021.

The game has already received a number of hotfixes to address the most pressing issues, but Iwiński promises that it will not stop there. There are patches of all sizes in the works, the first of which will be released in just 10 days. A larger and more significant update will follow shortly thereafter.

The fix also means a delay of the free DLC that CDPR had originally planned; CDPR had originally planned to release the free DLC shortly after launch, as with The Witcher 3. Instead, fixes were prioritized and the free DLC was put on the back burner for the time being; Iwiński promised that more information would be available "in the coming months."

As for PS5 and Xbox Series X players, an update for the next generation of consoles is coming later this year. No exact information is available on when the official next-gen release of "Cyberpunk 2077" will be, but given the game's disastrous launch, it would not be surprising if that too is delayed.

We also already know that there will be a multiplayer mode, but there is not much that can be said about it, as the CDPR is keeping its details tightly under wraps. Nevertheless, a data provider has uncovered some multiplayer code, indicating at least two different game modes (Heist and Deathmatch) and the possibility of P2P connections rather than everything being routed through a dedicated multiplayer server.

While specifics are scarce, it is clear that "Cyberpunk 2077" still has a long way to go this year. One can only hope that the game's performance and bugs are fixed ASAP.
