Cyberpunk 2077's launch woes continue to worsen, and just over a month after its launch, the game has already been heavily discounted. In fact, retailers like Best Buy are selling the game at half the price it was at launch.

Of course, whether people would want to buy the game even with such a huge discount is another matter entirely. Ultimately, we'll have to wait for developer CD Projekt Red to fix the game's many problems.

Although Cyberpunk is a victim of some gamers' excessive expectations, the game was reportedly not ready when it launched on December 10. The launch version was glitchy, poorly optimized, and performed so badly on the launch Xbox One and PS4 that it was almost unplayable despite the CDPR promises.

It was so bad that Sony removed the game from the PlayStation store. Microsoft offered refunds to disgruntled gamers; CDPR has promised further fixes, but the game in its current state is not very good. This is no doubt the reason why the game has been the subject of such a large discount.

Currently, Cyberpunk 2077 is $35 at BestBuy, $25 off the MSRP, with a free steelbook case. That's a pretty substantial discount for such a new game, but there are reports that the price has dropped to $30. GameStop, on the other hand, is still selling the new one for the suggested retail price of $60.

Of course, even a $25 discount and a free steelbook is not worth the cost of purchasing a game you may never play. Those lucky enough to have an Xbox Series X or PS5 may be okay for the time being, but the rest of us will face problems. Also, the older your hardware is, the more problems you will have until CDPR sends you a patch.

Of course, fixes will be made, and if you want to eventually play the game, you will have to decide whether to buy now or wait. If you buy now, you will be stuck with a $35 chunk of plastic that may not really improve the game and is not playable enough. Likewise, the price may drop even further in the coming weeks.

However, if the game improves, prices may rise again. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no guarantee of that, and frankly, it is our opinion that paying more for a game that is doing well is much better than paying less for one that is not.
