Be Careful, GeForce RTX3060 — Why AMD's Radeon RX6700XT is the card you can get

If you are one of the users who tried to secure a new video card during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, you are probably still shell-shocked from the frustration of trying to purchase one. At this point, the odds are stacked against Nvidia, but that's only because Nvidia currently has the GPU game locked down.

However, despite not announcing a competitive alternative to Nvidia's lineup at CES 2021 this month, AMD may have another bullet. However, that is expected to change at some point, and it may be worth waiting for AMD's replacement product.

According to YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead, AMD skipped showing the Radeon RX 6700 XT, which was rumored to be a larger part of its CES presentation; Moore's Law is Dead believes AMD is simply trying to get Nvidia's RTX 3060, suggesting that they just wanted to adjust and upgrade the new card's status as much as possible to make it more competitive with the RTX 3060. [The YouTuber also made the bold statement that the RX 6700 XT could easily blow away the RTX 3060, citing its rumored potential specs as the source. Allegedly, the RX 6700 XT will have 40 compute units, clocked at 2.35-2.5 GHz, and is also expected to offer 12 GB of GDDR6 VRAM to rival the GDDR6 found on the Radeon RX 6800 card. the AIB version. Navi 22 will likely feature a 3070-caliber cookie that can be significantly overclocked.

There is no update on power consumption, but the leaker advises "not to be surprised" if this model exceeds 200W. Finally, the YouTuber claims that there is a specific reference model with an even lower price point, in line with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti's starting price of $329.

If AMD does eventually enter the arena with this particular card, it will continue to go up against Nvidia's expensive but powerful lineup, starting with the $329 GeForce RTX 3060 and continuing all the way up to the $1,499 GeForce RTX 3090. There are cards to choose from, five of which are based on the Ampere. In fact, the least expensive Ampere card costs less than AMD's currently least expensive RDNA 2 model.

However, this situation will probably change; if AMD's cards are as powerful as rumored and stand up to comparisons to the RTX 3060, we may see a major shift in power over the mid-range desktop gaming market. We have no concrete release date or even confirmation of what "Moore's Law" on YouTube means. However, as of now, the RX 6700 XT is rumored to have a May release date.
