Philips has introduced a new series of sports headphones with a variety of features that make working out safer, smarter, and more hygienic [These True Wireless earbuds feature an over-ear clip for a more secure fit, IP57 waterproofing, and a charging case with built-in UV light
Like last year's LG Tone Free, this light can remove bacteria and germs from the earbuds while charging This would appeal to those who want the best sports headphones but don't want to clean their new buds with a sweaty shirt
The A7306 also features its own heart rate monitor, like the crowdfunded Soul Blade earphones So if you don't need more advanced activity monitoring, you could use it without a wrist or chest-worn fitness tracker
Another advanced headphone in the new lineup is the Philips A6606 It uses bone-conduction technology instead of traditional headphone drivers to transmit sound by sending vibrations through the cheekbones
Although they sound grim, these headphones are ideal for running because they leave the ears open, making it easier to hear approaching cars, bicycles, and pedestrians
Another safety feature of the A6606 is the rear LED light, which lets others know your presence if you are running at night It is also IP67 waterproof rated, so rain and shallow swimming are no problem
Rounding out the series are the on-ear Philips A4216 and the in-ear Philips A3206 the A4216 has no fancy features but is IP55 sweatproof and has the longest battery life at 25 hours the A3206, like the A7306, is IP57 waterproofing and interchangeable wingtips, but is a relatively simple pair of wireless earbuds
Pricing has not yet been announced, and a release date is only given as Q2 2021, or April or later; they will compete with workout headphones like the Bose Sport Open Earbuds and mainstream headphones like the AirPods Pro and therefore will be priced aggressively However, we can expect the A7306 to be a more worthwhile investment for serious fitness enthusiasts, especially since it is packed with so many features
