Good news for Xbox Series X buyers, Sea of Thieves' performance mode has been updated to play at 120fps.

On Xbox Wire, Microsoft revealed what to expect from the latest Sea of Thieves, but buried at the bottom of the list is that the game now supports 120fps at 1080p. This is great news for those with high-resolution monitors and TVs.

The 120 fps mode is accessible from Sea of Thieves' "Performance Mode" mode. Just keep in mind that it requires a TV that supports a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Unfortunately, for gamers who prefer to play in native 4K, Sea of Thieves is locked to 60 fps. Nevertheless, both options should be smooth sailing.

It is also worth noting that your TV may not support 120Hz and HDR simultaneously. If your TV does, you may have to manually go into your TV's settings and disable HDR. However, if you have a TV capable of outputting high-quality HDR with sufficient brightness and contrast, we recommend sticking with 4K 60fps with HDR.
