PS5 update fixes annoying double install bug for ps4 games

PS5 users will obviously want to take advantage of the latest state-of-the-art hardware they recently purchased for $500. The last thing a next-generation gamer would want to do is accidentally load the PS4 version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Well, Sony has finally pushed out an update that fixes this annoying bug.

After the launch of the PS5, users on Reddit and elsewhere had encountered a strange glitch where the PS4 version of the game would install alongside the PS5 version. Fortunately, Sony has provided an update version 20.02-02.50.00 that fixes this problem.

According to Sony, the problem only occurred in "rare cases." In some cases, users accidentally loaded the previous generation version of the game and realized their mistake midway through the game.

Given that the PS5 has only 667 GB of usable storage, one would not want to have multiple copies of the same title.

For the affected games, when players tried to enjoy the game in question, they were warned and asked if they wanted to play the PS4 or PS5 version. Nothing could stop me from choosing the PS5 on the spot, but that was all the PS5 did regarding the issue. If I wanted to free up space on the machine, I had to go into the settings myself and delete the old game files.

However, the latest update solves this problem, so you don't have to sit around waiting for two different versions of the same game to be installed. Nor do you have to search through storage management settings to remove duplicate files from your system.

While far from the worst bug to affect the PS5 since its launch, it is one of the strangest. Especially since Sony knew that some people would take advantage of the console's backward compatibility.

At least it is gone now, along with minor improvements to the console. They include improved system performance and editing clips using the Share Factory Studio in the media gallery.

Whether or not you've noticed that you're affected, update your console and check your used storage to make sure nothing is taking up valuable space.
