Xbox Series X can get another Halo game

It appears that a new chapter in the Halo series beyond Halo Infinite is already in development for the Xbox Series X.

This was recently posted on Microsoft's careers site, where 343 Industries, the developer of Halo, is looking for "a producer to help develop a new project in the Halo universe. Microsoft did not elaborate on what kind of game this new Halo project will be. Aside from the shooter, there are two real-time strategy games in the "Halo" universe, Halo Wars.

What we do know is that the game is not a simple 2D platformer. The job posting specifically asks for someone with experience making AAA games for modern hardware. Other than that, there is not much information. However, according to a November VG24/7 report, two Halo projects are in development.

This rumor follows a series of now-deleted tweets. The tweets suggested that the upcoming "Halo Infinite" would not be an entire game, but rather a title broken up into four episodes. Not only that, but the rumor also suggested that a free "Halo Infinite Battle Royale" mode would be released in 2021. Considering that these are fleeting rumors on Twitter, we might as well take them with a grain of salt.

Halo Infinite was supposed to be the launch title for the Xbox Series X, but was delayed due to a poorly received launch title announced in July 2020. This was due to pressure from the COVID-19 pandemic and 343 Industries' desire to add more polish to the next "Halo" title.

Halo Infinite is expected to be released in 2021. As for this unannounced Halo title, it may be several years away; Tom'sGuide will keep you updated on Halo news as well as Xbox Series X-related news.
