Apple announced this shortly after the release of macOS Big Sur 1121, which fixed some of the most annoying bugs in Apple's operating system, especially the bug that prevented MacBook Pro batteries from charging However, if you have a 2016/2017 MacBook Pro and it still won't charge, you can get a new battery without shelling out the big bucks

Apple published an article on its support page acknowledging that a small number of customers are experiencing this issue

Cupertino also published a simple guide to determine if the battery needs repair, how to update macOS, and how to identify the exact model of the laptop

Apart from your 2016 or 2017 MacBook Pro not charging above 1%, there are still a few things pointing to the fact that there may be a problem with the battery

According to Apple, if the battery health status is listed as "Service Recommended," then it is indeed affected by a charging issue

However, if the battery health status is showing as "normal," then your MacBook Pro may not have any battery issues that need to be addressed
