Finding a place to buy a PS5 remains a daunting task as shoppers look for restocks. As of this writing, the $499 regular PS5 and $399 PS5 Digital Edition are sold out across the U.S., and as inventory dwindles, they sell out quickly.

PS5 inventory regulars also say that millions more consoles will arrive each month through April. This means that even if you missed the last PS5 restock, more inventory is on the way. If you can't find the PS5 in stock anywhere, don't give up hope. Sony recently tweeted that they are working to have more PS5 consoles ready for the end of the year.

"Demand for PS5 has never been higher and we wanted to make sure that PS5 inventory is on track to reach retailers before the end of the year.

Even if you do get a PS5, it could be stolen before you get it; many Amazon PS5 buyers have complained that their shipped PS5s have been lost, and Amazon U.K. has promised to replace these PS5s. The situation seems to be getting worse, as Sony game consoles have also been stolen from cargo trucks on their way to retailers for delivery.

Find the right product page: This may sound obvious, but make sure you are on the actual purchase page for the PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition. If you are on a landing page, you may miss out on new arrivals.

Sign in to your retailer: Be sure to sign in to any retailers with whom you already have an account. If you find a PS5 for sale, this would be a much faster way to buy one. Speed is the name of the game today.

You may also want to check out subscription wholesalers like Sam's Club, BJ's Wholesale Club, and Costco. You will need to become a paid member to shop at these retailers, but there is less competition to get units there. Bundling may require an additional fee, but it is worth checking out these locations anyway. Currently, there is no online listing of these retailers, but it may be worth heading to each physical store to try your luck at this point.

In this console generation, finalizing a next-generation console purchase has been a fairly difficult process. However, with the holiday season fast approaching, there is a good chance that Sony will catch up with those looking to purchase the PS5, and at some point, additional PS5's will be available for purchase.

Unfortunately, one of the main reasons for the shortage of PS5 consoles is the duffers. These opportunists use bots to scan retailers and purchase as many consoles as possible at once as PS5 inventory becomes available.

Once they have a very attractive console, they sell it for exorbitant prices, often thousands of dollars; according to Business Insider, one reseller managed to acquire 200 PS5 consoles and sell them for over $40,000.

While this is not illegal, it is not the most morally sound practice. But at least it is not as malicious as those who have committed fraud by pretending to sell PS5 consoles on eBay, posting pictures of the consoles, and then getting people to bid on them even though the PS5 was not listed on eBay.

We recommend avoiding buying from such resellers, fake or not: the PS5 is still a fairly expensive console at $499 and does not currently have a huge game library. Therefore, if you can wait until 2021, there are many more games you can play on the PS5 and Sony should have more available.

It may seem silly to spend more than $1,000 for a PS5. But with the Coronavirus pandemic keeping more and more people indoors, it is clear that some PlayStation fans are desperate to get a new console to keep them entertained during the holiday season.

Again, despite the fact that it is a very nice gaming console, we recommend that you do not risk your health to get a PS5.
