PS5 owners, rejoice - Ratchet & Crank: Here is when the rip arrives away

Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart was undoubtedly the game that sold gamers on the PS5 It was one of the first major titles we saw on the console, and the trailer showed off the PS5's fast load times in actual gameplay When the PS5 debuted late last year, this game was not among the launch titles, but Sony still promised a new "Ratchet & Clank" within the PS5's "launch window"

That turned out not to be the case, but still we won't have to wait that long for this game Sony announced that "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" will be released on June 11, 2021 in both physical and digital formats (Sony made this announcement both on the PlayStation Blog and on Twitter ) In both places, you can see a short video about Ratchet & Clank's latest adventure, most of which you've already seen in other trailers

As for the game itself, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be available in two versions: a $70 standard edition with both physical and digital versions, and an $80 deluxe edition with only a digital version

Pre-ordering the standard edition of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will (naturally) get the full game plus the shiny carbonox armor from Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, which was released on PS2 You will also get the Pixelizer gun from "Ratchet & Clank" (2016) earlier than usual (The Pixelizer gun can be unlocked with either, but the Carbonox armor is only available as a pre-order bonus)

The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $10 more and comes with all of the above, plus five additional armor sets, a Photo Mode sticker pack, 20 units of Raritanium (which can upgrade regular weapons), a digital soundtrack, and a digital art bookRift Since we don't know the gameplay details of Apart, we don't know if the armor set will enhance gameplay or if it is merely cosmetic Either way, the soundtrack is surely the bigger draw

In theory, one could get some of the same bonuses by purchasing a physical copy of the game However, Sony advises readers to "check with your local game retailer to see if they offer pre-order bonuses" Sony also offers another perk for gamers who pre-order digitally: a $5 credit to use at the PlayStation Store

Sony also offers some hints about the structure of Ratchet & Clank: What will Rift Apart be like? Like "Ratchet & Clank A Crack in Time," it appears that the two protagonists will spend most of the game apart and attempting to reconnect; the two will revisit distorted versions of locations that were fan favorites in the previous game Clank will also team up with a new character She is the popular female Lombachs from the trailer, whose name remains a mystery

Sony claims that Rift Apart will be a good starting point for new players, but it will also continue the ongoing story that longtime fans have been following since the early 2000s However, no one knows if the story will be incorporated into the 2016 reboot

You can pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store now -- though perhaps we'll have learned a valuable lesson about pre-ordering games in 2020 and beyond
