Once in the virtual queue, you will need to wait until you get to the front of the line. Wait times vary and there is a good chance that you will have to wait "over an hour". Even then, do not despair. Sometimes the situation changes quickly and the wait is shorter than expected. (For example, a previous PS5 restocking event reduced the wait from "over an hour" to only 15 minutes after a 20-minute wait.)

A PSN account is required to purchase. If you do not already have one, you can create an account here. If you are able to obtain a console, we also recommend that you enter your address and payment information to expedite your purchase.

It is important to note that getting in line is no guarantee that you will be able to purchase a PS5. Sony has stated that "PS5 consoles are available in limited numbers and are not guaranteed even if you get in line." Furthermore, you may have to solve a CAPTCHA. (A simple challenge/question to make sure you are not a bot). As a result, the browser tabs must be prominent or you may miss the captcha challenge and lose your place in the queue.

Once you are at the front of the line, you will hear a chime (please turn on sound) and be redirected to the PlayStation Store. You will then have 10 minutes to complete your purchase. The PS5 is available for $499 and the PS5 Digital for $399.

If the PS5 console sells out at Sony Direct, other retailers may be able to stock it within a few days as Sony ramps up production.
